چکیده

The spring-snail genus Bythinella is a diverse group of minute operculate gastropods, usually restricted to springs and widely distributed in Europe. Species are primarily delineated based on shell characters such as size or overall shape. Nevertheless, studies molecular morphological approaches show that these can be highly variable do not necessarily have taxonomic significance. In this paper we formally describe name, according the requirements International Code Zoological Nomenclature, species identified by previously published phylogenetic analyses barcoding gap approach mitochondrial COI gene. results suggest micro-endemic currently recognized only from south-western France at its type locality. We also highlight barcode considerably reduces number valid region, strictly shell-based taxonomy probably overestimates richness Bythinella.

A new species of Simnia from England (Caenogastropoda: Ovulidae)

A new species of Ovulidae, Simnia hiscocki, is described from the Cornwall Peninsula, England, and compared with Simnia patula occurring in the same area, from which it differs in shelland radula-morphological features as well as ecological features. DNA analysis suggests that it is a very young species whose host-specificity to Eunicella verrucosa makes it a potentially useful species for moni...

Bartschia (Agassitula) peartae, a new species of colubrariid (Gastropoda: Colubrariidae) from the tropical western Atlantic

A new western Atlantic species belonging to the “Metula” group is described and assigned to the subgenus Agassitula, which is provisionally included in the genus Bartschia. This new species, Bartschia (Agassitula) peartae, is larger, thinner, more fusiform, and more densely pigmented than other western Atlantic members of the “Metula” group. Additional

Molecular phylogenetics of Caenogastropoda (Gastropoda: Mollusca).

Caenogastropoda is the dominant group of marine gastropods in terms of species numbers, diversity of habit and habitat and ecological importance. This paper reports the first comprehensive multi-gene phylogenetic study of the group. Data were collected from up to six genes comprising parts of 18S rRNA, 28S rRNA (five segments), 12S rRNA, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I, histone H3 and elongation...
